Few Different Types of Pallets Used These Days

These days for different businesses pallet changers are needed to swap pallets, replace any broken pallets, or safely remove goods from a shipment. 

If you have worked in any industrial warehouse, then it is most likely that you must have used palettenwender (English Meaning pallet turner).

The following are a few different types of pallets used in different warehouses.

  • Roto moulded pallets

Roto-moulded pallets are made by using a certain rotational method. They are available in standard sizes and are enhanced using steel frames for increasing their load-bearing capacity. 

Roto-moulded pallets are preferred in industries where hygiene is very important.

  • Injection moulded pallets

Injection moulded pallets are available in standard sizes and colour are flat pallets. They are used for lifting goods during transportation and are easily moved using loaders, forklifts, or jacks. 

Injection moulded pallets are washable, recyclable, corrosion-free, and durable.

  • Block/deck board pallets

Block pallets can easily be lifted from all 4 directions. The upper deck will be supported by 12 columns. Some of them have a bottom deck too. 

Block pallets can offer high handling efficiency and are made of wood, metal, or plastic.

  • Stringer pallets

Stringer pallets provide additional support when compared to block pallets. The stringer pallets are generally made of wood and are reinforced with 2 boards with space in between them. The hollow space in between the boards allows for lifting from 2 sides. However, there are some variations of stringer pallets with additional notches on 2 other sides for forklift operations. These ones can be used from all 4 sides.

  • Double face pallets

Generally, most pallets have got only a top deck. Double-face pallets come with a both bottom and top deck as well as two sides. They are strong and are used for heavy-duty tasks.

  • Double wing pallets

In these pallets, the top and the bottom deck will extend beyond the stringers for offering additional surface area and making these pallets useful for transporting a large number of goods all immediately.

  • Solid deck pallets

These pallets have a single continuous sheet made of wood, metal, or plastic having no spacing in between. These are quite easy to clean and transport and will be useful in moving smaller items.

A few of the automatic pallet changers are:

  • PC model

This transfer system consists of certain 110º ground-level units to provide the accessibility of hands-free operation. They are perfect for transferring fragile or sensitive items from one pallet to another with very little risk of damage. 

The pressure/load-sensitive settings help to adjust the machine based on the product types that you handle. 

  • LT model

This model is designed for transferring items from in-house to shipping pallets or back. Engineered for efficiency, speed, and LT changers can house up to 60 pallets/minute. 

You can experience quick stack transfers without having to worry about tipping or inverting.

  • DV changer

These models feature a “V” basket that can support the load on 2 sides, and also an changeable clamping plate for securing the stack before tipping. 

This hydraulic system is highly efficient and helps these pallet inverters to manage 30 transfers per hour expeditiously.
